Germantown, Tenn. (December 10, 2012) – Bethany Beckham, a junior at Evangelical Christian School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Beckham is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for Drama & Speech. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Beckham and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Beckham is talented theatrically and vocally. She holds a 4.49 weighted grade point average, scored 32 on the ACT with a perfect 36 on the English portion of the test and is ranked in the top 10 percent of her class. Beckham has been inducted into the National Honor Society and the Beta Club and has taken a rigorous schedule of AP and honors classes while performing in many theatrical productions.
At ECS, Beckham performed in “Fiddler on the Roof,” “You Can’t Take It WithYou,” “High School Musical,” “Did Someone Say Murder?” and “Beauty and the Beast.” As a sophomore, she was a Lead Actress Nominee for her role as Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” in the Orpheum High School Musical Awards. Beckham’s community theatre productions include “Annie,” “Big River,” “Holla Holla Hoo!” “Once Upon a Mattress,” and “Madeline’s Christmas.”
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.
Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
